    Professor
    Active
    Joined September 2016

Professor Park Sung-hyuk is currently on the faculty of the Department of Civil Systems Engineering at the College of Engineering, Dong-A University, where he is actively conducting research in various fields, including environmental and water treatment technologies, river purification, odor control, and marine water quality management. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Hanyang University (1999), Professor Park served as an officer in the 6th Corps of the Republic of Korea Army (1999–2002). Subsequently, he completed a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at KAIST (2005) and obtained a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Texas A&M University (2010) through the Korean Ministry of Education's government-sponsored overseas student program. He has accumulated extensive practical experience in both industry and research institutions; he worked as a Senior Researcher at GS E&C (2010–2013), where he carried out projects related to environment and water treatment, and subsequently served as a Senior Researcher at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) (2013–2016), contributing to research in industrial environmental technology. Since joining Dong-A University as a professor in 2016, he has been dedicated to research and the education of future generations. In particular, Professor Park is actively engaged in developing programs to attract international students and link them with employment opportunities at companies in Busan through collaboration with local industries. Professor Park continues his research with the goal of developing sustainable environmental technologies and contributing to the local community, having conducted studies on river environment improvement using oxygen transfer technology, biochar-based wastewater treatment, waste stabilization, and landfill space recovery. Recently, he has continued to make academic contributions by publishing research papers in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering and the Journal of Environmental Management. Education and Experiences 2021~Current: Dong-A University, Associate Professor 2016~2021: Dong-A University, Assistant Professor 2010~2012: Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, Senior Researcher 2005-2010: GS Engineering & Construction, Senior Researcher 2005-2010: Texas A&M University, Department of Civil Engineering, Ph.D. (Government funded study abroad program, Ministry of Education) 2003-2005: KAIST, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, M.S. 1999-2002: Republic of Korea Army, 6th Corps 1995-1999: Hanyang University, Department of Civil Engineering, B.S.
